OUR START

Established in 1982, NewMoor Properties (now JKMG) was cofounder  by Joseph C. Moorman.  He operated the business on the side and worked full time for N.A.S.A.  The Company specialized in property management of multi-family housing.  Over the years, he grew the business, picked up single family homes and created new avenues of the business, which included finishing the last 23 units in a 69 unit townhouse project.  Karol Voight Moorman joined the business as a full partner in the early 90's.  She had always played an active role in the executive level management of the business. In 1993, Joseph K. Moorman joined the business part-time. In 1994, he became the Property Administrator and ran the business full-time under the guidance of both  parents.  In the fall of 1995, JKMG was formed and incorporated.  The business began to expand rapidly at this time as we actively pursued remodeling and renovation work.  In December 1996, Joseph C. Moorman, founder, pasted away of cancer.  He left us his memory and legacy.  He faced his illness as he faced his life: with honesty, integrity, hope, and humor.  This legacy is carried on by JKMG as we manage this business such that Joe's legacy is perpetuated and his memory continues.

         A TRIBUTE TO OUR FOUNDER
Joseph C. Moorman, manager of Langley Research Center's Utilization and Analysis Branch, which provides systems engineering support to NASA's Micro gravity Science and Applications Division, died on December 3, 1996, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 54.
Moorman's career with NASA spanned three decades, including 3 years as the photographic system engineer for the Lunar Orbiter Project and 10 years in leading roles with the Viking Project. His first assignment with Viking was as biology instrument manager, then, in sequence, manager of the gas chromatograph mass spectrometer, Denver support office manager, deputy mission director, and deputy lander science group chief for the Viking flight team. During this period, Joe earned the respect and confidence of his superiors and associates throughout the project.
After Viking, Joe managed a number of science experiment development projects and he earned NASA's sustained superior performance and special achievement awards, as well as the Agency's exceptional service medal. In 1988, he was named manager of Langley's Micro gravity Program Support Office and, from 1990 until his death, he managed the Utilization and Analysis Branch of the Space Systems and Concepts Division. In this capacity, he directed studies of microgravity experiment facilities planned for the International Space Station, developed technology experiments for the space shuttle program, and managed the microgravity educational outreach program implemented by Hampton University.
In a recent statement, Robert C. Rhome, director of the Micro gravity Science and Applications Division at  NASA headquarters, pointed out that Joe Moorman's work at Langley Research Center on behalf of the  microgravity research program "is reflected in most of what we do and who we are." Rhome said he was pleased
that Joe was able to participate in the division's September 1996 science planning session "as he brought not only considerable insight and experience to the process, but his enthusiasm for our program as well."
Joe's colleagues say that they remember him for his knowledge, leadership, good humor, and optimistic spirit.  His family observes that "he faced his illness as he lived his life: with honesty, integrity, hope, and humor."
